November 8, 6:00PM: Assembling a Successful College Application
Families quickly discover that filling out a single application involves a lot of paperwork. Of course many students apply to multiple schools and the thought of completing 4, 6, or 8 applications can seem overwhelming! The process can be managed with good planning, however. In this seminar, Dr. Quadrel will describe a timeline for developing the four key elements of your college admissions packet: course transcripts, standardized testing results, admissions essays, and a description of extracurricular activities.
December 6, 6:00PM: Paying for College
The sticker price for many colleges can be a real shock - the cost of tuition, fees, room, board, and travel often adds up to tens of thousands of dollars per year. The good news is that most students don't pay the full sticker price. The bad news is that navigating through financial aid, scholarships, grants, and loans can be a real headache. In this presentation, Dr. Quadrel will describe what drives college costs and what families typically pay. He will also discuss available financial aid options to help cover college costs. Whether it's an academic or sports scholarship, a federal loan, or educational grant, each option has its own set of requirments and timeline.
The seminars are intended for the families of college-bound high school students – parents and students are all welcome. We hope to see you there!
