For Running Start Seniors who need to complete their High School and Beyond Plan, and juniors who missed the ASVAB test that was administered in the  fall of 2017.  Contact the Career Center at 967-6524 to confirm your spot.  This will be the computerized version of the ASVAB so an accurate headcount is required to ensure a computer is available.  The follow-up results class will be scheduled at a later date.

Higher Education and Job Training EXPO

Congressman Dan Newhouse (R-WA) will host a Higher Education and Job Training Expo in Tri-Cities on Saturday, October 28th from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The Higher Education and Job Training Expo is free and open to students of all ages and their families in Central Washington. Congressman Newhouse has brought together colleges, military institutions, and job training programs to offer information and helpful resources for students and families in the 4th Congressional District to prepare to attend college or begin a career.

The Expo will include two panels for assistance with:

•Financial Aid 101, 11:00 – 12:00 p.m.

•Help Navigating College Admission, 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.

Educational institutions and job training organizations who are interested in participating are encouraged to contact Jamie Daniels in Congressman Newhouse’s Yakima office at (509) 452-3243.

The Out of School Youth program at WorkSource Columbia Basin is hosting a Future Fest for local students (preferably graduating seniors but all are welcome). Local colleges, trade schools, apprenticeship coordinators, military recruiters, etc. will all be in attendance to assist local youth with determining their next steps after high-school. We intend to provide students with options beyond traditional post-secondary avenues i.e. apprenticeships, trade schools (Welding, Forklift, Cosmetology) etc. Additionally, Columbia Basin College will be providing a FAFSA workshop on site during the event.  For more information, contact either Katie (509) 734-5978 or Heather (509) 734-5924.
